
Tracy D. Smith Bio
Born and raised in Penticton, B.C., Tracy D. Smith moved to Vancouver to pursue her university education. In 2002, she received an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia. She then joined the Development Department of Brightlight Pictures until 2006. She has served on the board of directors for Women in Film and Video Vancouver for the past three years and chairs the mentorship program. Her short film Sandra Gets Dumped (2005 Crazy8s) won a Leo Award for Best Screenwriting in a Short Drama and was nominated for Best Short Drama. The sequel, Sandra Goes to Whistler screened as part of the Whistler Film Festival’s Opening Gala Event in December 2005. Currently, she has just completed her feature film debut entitled Taming Tammy.
